Kathy and Robert live in a perfect location in a solid Florida home near the Ocean. It’s in a small town called Indialantic that has remained small and quaint. Their house has a lot of character and potential. But as you may know, the adage “it all started when…” holds true when it comes to remodeling. Well, in this case, it all started when Kat had the brilliant idea that she wanted an LED track light over the refrigerator WITH a motion detector to spotlight shelves that would hold a collection of antique jars – jars that she has been storing for – well – a very long time. It has been a standing joke about Kat and her hanging onto those jars, but now they are going to have a nice home in her new kitchen!
Only one problem. The light would not work unless it was grounded and there was ductwork between the ground wire in the attic and the hole for the track light. Necessity is the mother of invention and some craziness. Robert took a fishing pole, hooked the ground wire to it and fished the wire across the attic to a hole that he couldn’t see except for the light shining up from below the ceiling. End result? The kitchen is gorgeous with Ikea cabinets and all these cool drawer inserts, 2″ thick butcher block counters, open shelves, the original door to the mudroom AND a track light over the refrigerator.
More to come, but it’s a functioning kitchen inside with another kitchen in the mudroom for outdoor cooking. We can see a lot of healthy meals from these kitchens! Visit www.cinchyourstate.com/recipes for a taste of things to come!
